  • Vinton War Memorial – The beautiful two-story, colonial-type building built in 1948, is now OPEN after major renovations. Click here for more information on the renovations. It is available to the public to reserve for meetings, seminars, luncheons, dinners, weddings, receptions, social gatherings, and other special occasions.   • Charles R. Hill Senior Center – Named for the former Mayor of the Town of Vinton, the Charles R. Hill Senior Center is available to the public to reserve for meetings, seminars, luncheons, dinners, weddings, receptions, social gatherings, and other special occasions.

  • Senior Citizens' Programs – The Special Programs Department offers activities for senior adults 55 years of age and over. Classes, crafts, day trips, overnight tours, and covered dish luncheons are just a few of the activities available.

  • Public Swimming Pool – The Town of Vinton Special Programs Department operates a public municipal swimming pool for people of all ages. The pool is open June through August each year. A small admission fee is charged for daily use. Additionally, swimming instruction classes are also available. Click here for more information on the Vinton Swimming Pool.


  • Vinton Farmers' Market – The Vinton Farmers’ Market is located on Lee Avenue in downtown Vinton. Since 1988 the market has provided a convenient location for local farmers to sell fresh produce, home-made baked goods, jam, jellies, greenery, handmade crafts, flowers, and plants.

    The Vinton Farmers’ Market, recently renovated, features twenty-four covered stalls with tables for vendors and forty-four free parking spaces for customers. The market area also features a permanent stage at which concerts and special events are held throughout the year. Special events promote the market, the vendors, the downtown, and the Vinton community.

    The market is owned and operated by the Town of Vinton. The market is supervised by the Town of Vinton Special Programs Coordinator (540-983-0613), 814 E. Washington Ave., Vinton, Virginia 24179.

    The following items may be sold at the Farmers’ Market:

  • Homegrown or harvested produce fruits or vegetables. Homegrown produce is preferred however sales are not limited to homegrown only.
  • Prepared foods. Baked Goods such as cakes, fruit pies, breads, cookies, brownies, are acceptable. No cream filled pastries, custards, cream cheese filled items or other items filled with dairy products are acceptable. All baked goods must be: labeled with the name of the product; list of ingredients in order of predominance; an accurate statement of the quantity in terms or weight, measure, or count as appropriate; the name and address of the person preparing the item.
  • Jams, jellies, honey, and highly acidic canned goods such as pickled cucumbers, pickled beets, chow-chow. All canned goods must be labeled with the name of the product; list of ingredients in order of predominance; an accurate statement of the quantity in terms or weight, measure, or count as appropriate; the name and address of the person preparing the item. Eggs may be permitted for sale, however, they must be kept on ice or cooling at 40 degrees or below.
  • Handmade Crafts made by the crafter selling. No kits or pre-manufactured items are permitted.
  • Live plants, fresh greenery, homegrown cut flowers, balled and burlap or container type Christmas trees, cut Christmas trees.

The Special Programs Coordinator will have the authority to approve or disapprove any items sold on the Market.

        Take Elm Avenue (Route 24 East) Exit. Continue on Elm Avenue, which will change names several times and becomes Virginia Avenue at the Town limits. Turn left on South Pollard Street. Then turn right on Gus Nicks Boulevard/Washington Avenue. Continue on Washington Avenue and turn left into the Vinton War Memorial parking area.

        Directions from Route 460: Turn on Gus Nicks Boulevard at Hardee’s. Gus Nicks Boulevard will change names and become Washington Avenue. Continue on Washington Avenue and turn left into the Vinton War Memorial parking area.

      • Vinton Swimming Pool

        Directions from I-581:
        Take Elm Avenue (Route 24 East) Exit. Continue on Elm Avenue, which will change names several times and becomes Virginia Avenue at the Town limits. Turn left on South Pollard Street. Then turn right on Gus Nicks Boulevard/Washington Avenue. Continue on Washington Avenue and turn left on Meadow Street, next to the Vinton Library. Go past the Library and the War Memorial, and turn right into the swimming pool parking area.

        Directions from Route 460: Turn on Gus Nicks Boulevard at Hardee’s. Gus Nicks Boulevard will turn into Washington Avenue. Continue on Washington Avenue and turn left on Meadow Street next to the Vinton Library. Go past the Library and the War Memorial and turn right into the swimming pool parking area.



      • Vinton Farmers' Market

        Take Elm Avenue (Route 24 East) Exit. Continue on Elm Avenue, which will change names several times and becomes Virginia Avenue at the Town limits. Turn left on South Pollard Street. Turn left on Lee Avenue, just before the Vinton Post Office. The Vinton Farmers' Market will be on your right.

        Directions from Route 460: Turn on Gus Nicks Boulevard at Hardee’s. Gus Nicks Boulevard will turn into Washington Avenue. Turn right on South Pollard Street beside Vinton Motors. Turn right on Lee Avenue, beside the Vinton Post Office. The Vinton Farmers' Market will be on your right.


  • Special Events – The Special Programs Department handles many special events for the Town of Vinton, including the Fourth of July Celebration and events held at the Farmers' Market. This Department also assists with the Dogwood Festival, Trick or Treat in Downtown Vinton, Vinton Christmas Parade, Vinton Old Time Bluegrass Festival, Holly Days, and many other events.
