| ADOPT-A-TRUCK
Vinton Residents may call the Public Works Department at 540-983-0646 to schedule the parking of a Town dump truck at their home overnight for loading discarded items from cleaned out basements, attics, storage sheds, etc. NO construction materials, brush, or hazardous materials will be accepted. The truck is dropped off at approximately 3:15 p.m. and picked up the next morning at 7 a.m. This service is available to Town Residents at no charge. BEAUTIFICATION PROJECTS ![]() Each spring the Town hangs 94 flower baskets throughout the Town. In the spring and fall, flowers are planted at the Municipal Building and the Health Department. Landscaping is also done at the War Memorial. Wildflowers are planted in the medians throughout the Town. For more information, please call 540-983-0646. BRUSH, TREE LIMB, AND CHRISTMAS TREE COLLECTION Brush and tree limbs must be cut into sections not exceeding six (6) feet in length and placed at the curb for collection. The Public Works Department will place a hangtag on the owner's door which states the amount of the fee to be paid for the brush collection, if it will exceed five (5) pickup truck loads. Please bring the hang tag and cash or a check for payment of the fee to the Vinton Treasurer's (Finance) Office. The Vinton Treasurer's Office will notify Public Works when the fee has been paid, so that the brush can be collected. Please note, the fee MUST BE PAID IN ADVANCE in the Vinton Treasurer's (Finance) Office at 311 S. Pollard Street, in the Vinton Municipal Building. Brush and tree limbs may also be taken to the Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (R.V.R.A.) Transfer Station by Vinton Residents (no more than one pickup load of items is allowed per resident, per week). Christmas Trees may also be placed at the curb for collection after the holiday season. For more information, please call 540-983-0646. HOUSEHOLD HAZARDOUS WASTE DISPOSAL Items that are classified as hazardous wastes are not accepted by Vinton's Trash/Garbage Collection Service. The following items are not accepted:
The Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (RVRA) accepts Household Hazardous Waste from Vinton residents. This includes such things as pesticides, herbicides, and cleansers that can be harmful to the environment; and should not be disposed of curbside with weekly domestic refuse. For more infomation call 540-857-5050, or visit the RVRA website: http://www.rvra.net. The RVRA is located at 1020 Hollins Road, off Rt. 460 in Roanoke City. The RVRA has prepared a brochure and a booklet which provide guidance and assistance as to how and where to properly dispose of or recycle household hazardous and also non-hazardous waste materials. COLLECTION INFORMATION
![]() The Town of Vinton picks up recyclables every
other week on the regular trash pickup day and from the same
location as the regular trash pickup occurs. Click
here to view the holiday schedule for trash/recycling pickup. Recyclables
must be separated from trash and placed in the recycling container/bin
provided by the Town. Each residence has a container/bin assigned to it,
and that container remains as Town property at the residence. Residents
who move are responsible for the container assigned to their residence,
and it must be accounted for prior to moving out. If the container is
not returned or left for the new resident, a $5.00 charge may be assessed
as a lien against the property. If a blue recycling bin is not available
or is damaged beyond repair, Town residents can call the Public Works
Department at 540-983-0646
to obtain a replacement.

Lake Drive Plaza is located at the corner of Hardy Road and Clearview Drive in Vinton. For more information, please call 540-983-0646. The following items are accepted at the Lake Drive Plaza location:
Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (R.V.R.A.): The Roanoke Valley Resource Authority (R.V.R.A.) also has a Residential Service Area--Recycling Drop-Off Center, which is open to all Vinton , Roanoke County and City citizens. It is located at the Trash Transfer Station at 1020 Hollins Road, Roanoke. The following items are accepted at the R.V.R.A. location:

ROANOKE VALLEY RESOURCE AUTHORITY (R.V.R.A.) The Town of Vinton will pay the charges for homeowners
to dump waste, which qualifies under the free residential
waste disposal program, when it is delivered by the homeowner. Click

SIDEWALKS In established neighborhoods, the property owners shall pay one-half of the cost of the installation of curbs, gutters and sidewalks; the Town will pay the remaining one-half. If all residents agree to pay, installation will be done one block at a time. In new neighborhoods/developments, the property owners/developers are responsible for all costs associated with the installation of curbs, gutters, and sidewalks. For more information, please call 540-983-0646. SNOW REMOVAL The primary thoroughfares for the traveling public are the Town's first priority. Following completion of snow/ice/slush removal on Priority One streets, residential streets will then be plowed/salted. The owner, tenant, or occupant of any building or lot of land abutting any curbed or paved sidewalk shall during the first eight hours of daylight following the time when snow/ice stops falling, remove snow/ice from the sidewalk. SPRING CLEAN-UP WEEK
![]() Each spring during the clean-up week scheduled by
Public Works, residents will receive one free pick-up of all acceptable
items. Clean-up week will be listed in this web site's Special
Events, advertised in local newspapers, and announced on Cable

STREET MAINTENANCE
Public Works personnel handle all street maintenance. Repairs of potholes
and water and sewer cuts are scheduled and repaired as soon as possible.

COLLECTION INFORMATION
All refuse (No Hazardous Wastes Permitted) to be collected, including special refuse pick-ups (yard wastes/grass/leaves, brush/tree limbs, bulk/large items, tires, and recyclables), must be placed at the curb by 7 a.m. on the regular trash collection day (Click Here for the Holiday Schedule). Trash must be placed in suitable trash bags AND trash containers/cans (as defined by Town Code Section 78-2). Handicapped residents who are unable to carry refuse to the curb may call Public Works at 540-983-0646 for special arrangements.

Water and sewer fees for lots in the Town of Vinton and East Roanoke County are done on a lot-by-lot basis. To obtain a quote for water and/or sewer service for an individual lot or lots in a subdivision, please contact the Vinton Public Works Department at 540-983-0646.
